課程大綱(Course Outline)
英授(Taught in English)

This course is to teach the interaction between X ray and crystal lattice; diffraction and its implications.  In this course, the powder diffraction will be the major discussion.

The purpose of this course is to understand the principles of X ray diffraction and how to investigate the characteristics of crystalline materials.

The syllable of course is as followed:

I、X-ray Diffraction Fundamentals(week1-7)

  1. Generation and characteristics of X-ray
  2. Geometry of crystals
  3. Crystal lattice and reciprocal lattice
  4. Diffraction

Ⅱ、Powder diffraction (week 8-10)

-        Reitveld refinement and GSAS program

-        Hands on GSAS program

 Mid-term test (week 11)

Ⅲ、Phase transition and ferroic transitions (week 12-14)

Ⅲ、Applications of X-ray Diffraction: Cases studies (week 15-17)

  Final examination (week18)
